Natural disaster response in Bamyan

In 2017, abundant snowfalls and avalanches destroyed hundreds of houses in Bamyan province. In consequence, roads were closed to the main cities and inhabitants of several districts, already facing severe poverty and harsh living conditions, were seriously affected by these abnormal winter conditions. After needs assessments were performed to determine the vulnerability of affected families, hygiene kits, shelter kits, tarps and patoos were distributed to 273 families living in Panjab, Shibar and Wares districts. YHDO coordinated the response with local authorities and nonfood items distribution took place between February and May 2017.
