YHDO has considerable experience of working with all major donors in Afghanistan. YHDO has worked with more than 26 funding and technical partners in Afghanistan.

Health Services:

YHDO has been implementing a number of projects providing health services to the vulnerable and marginalized groups including women and minority. The provision of health services includes:

HIV prevention program for HIV key affected population:

YHDO has considerable expertise in design and implementation of HIV prevention, treatment, care and support programs in Afghanistan.

Psychosocial support services:

YHDO provides psychosocial support services and psychosocial consoling for survivor of gender-based violence.

TB control program:

YHDO has been implementing TB control intervention to increase active case finding among key affected populations and screening for high-risk groups and improve access to TB care for these key vulnerable population.

Emergency Health Response: 

YHDO has been providing emergency health response program for the affected and most vulnerable communities in conflict affected areas of the country. The emergency health response interventions designed to addresses dire immediate health needs of conflict affected vulnerable host and displaced populations and contribute to reduce the morbidity and mortality among the affected population.

Health Response to GBV in Afghanistan:

We have been providing capacity building program for health care providers to build their capacity on GBV case management in Afghanistan.

Provision of primary health care services:

We have been providing mother child health services , immunization, nutrition, referral and PHC

Surveys and Research:

YHDO conducts researches for better service delivery, evidence-based decision making and data management.

Health system strengthening:

YHDO has conducted various research studies for strengthening health system in Afghanistan. The research studies include:

Population Size Estimation and Mapping of Three Key Populations in Eight provinces in Afghanistan in 2018, funded by UNDP/UCSF.

Assessing readiness and capacity of health facilities and health care providers for response to gender based violence in health settings in seven provinces of Afghanistan 2015, funded by WHO.

Comprehensive Family Planning Needs Assessment in 10 provinces of Afghanistan 2015, funded by UNFPA.

Assessing knowledge, attitude and practices of health care providers related to gender based violence 2014, funded by UN WOMEN.

Assessing knowledge, attitude and practices of communities and families related to immunization and polio vaccine in Afghanistan, funded by UNICEF.

·      Enhancing Response for male survivors of sexual violence in Afghanistan 2020

·      Research on sexual violence against boys and young men in Afghanistan 2019

·      Kuchi (Nomads) Children Education and Child Labour Assessment in five provinces of Afghanistan 2015

·      Gender Based Violence:

·      Assessing situation of violence against women and girls in Herat province of Afghanistan 2016, funded by UN WOMEN.

Human Rights and Access to Justice:

Wellbeing and the rights of the youth are attained through economic, legal and social security, access to responsive essential health and social services, and the opportunity to participate fully in community life and the decision-making process. YHDO has been working in promoting and protecting human rights with specific interventions related to:

–            Access to justice initiatives

–            Legal support services

–            Countering trafficking in person (CTIP) initiatives

Community Development:

YHDO has been working to promote human rights, prevent and treat illnesses and diseases using community-based approaches. The specific intervention includes:

–       Economic development

–       Disaster risk reduction and management

–       Women empowerment

–       Adolescence youth empowerment through vocational skill and freelancing programs

–       Empowerment and integration of recovering drug users through vocational skill program and income generation.
